EUR/JPY unchanged after ECB, all eyes on Draghi

FXStreet (Córdoba) - EUR/JPY barely moved following European Central Bank monetary policy statement. As widely expected, the ECB kept rates unchanged with all the attention gathering on President Draghi’s press conference.

At the last meeting of the year, the Governing Council of the ECB decided that the interest rate on the main refinancing operations and the interest rates on the marginal lending facility and the deposit facility will remain unchanged at 0.05%, 0.30% and -0.20% respectively.

ECB President Mario Draghi is due to begin his press conference at 13:30 GMT, and investors will watching for any hints on the ECB's next steps, specially whether the bank launches or lays the ground for purchases of government bonds. The ECB will also publish its quarterly staff forecasts on growth and inflation.

EUR/JPY rose a few pips but nothing impressive, with the upside still capped by the 147.90 zone. At time of writing, the pair is trading at 147.70, still 0.17% above its opening price.
